The
Six Nations Police Commission shall be comprised of eight Six Nations
of the Grand River Band members. One member shall be a Six Nations Band
Council appointee; five members shall be recruited from the Six Nations
of the Grand River Community at large; one member shall be a Confederacy
appointee, plus an Elder whom will be counted as one.
Accordingly,
the selection criteria for any member will be:
1. Six Nations
of the Grand River Band Member.
2. A resident of the Six Nations of the Grand
River Community.
3. Proven community participation and must be of good moral character.
4. Able to serve a four-year term, two terms at a maximum.
5. Six Nations Council Appointee meeting the criteria as established
by Commission policy shall serve concurrent with their term of office,
two terms at a maximum.
6. Willingness to place his/her signature to a declaration/oath that
the roles and responsibilities
of office and commitment to policing are known and agreed to.
7. Willingness to adhere to existing Commission Policies.
8. Able/willing to become knowledgeable to the proceedings by attending
meetings in an observation capacity before taking office.
9. Able/willing to attend training sessions.10.
Ability to dialogue into a consensus decision-making process.
11. Attend regularly scheduled monthly evening meetings.
12. Must be willing to submit to an initial and an annual background
check, which includes information required on the Consent to Disclosure
of Criminal Record Information Form.
13. Must not have a criminal record.
Elected
Six Nations Councillors currently holding office are ineligible to apply
for a community member position on the Six Nations Police Commission.
The Confederacy representatives shall serve a term consistent with the
Community at large representative.
